Bring on the Goodt Luck!

LUCKY FOOD!!!

We need to bring some good luck to the Michigan Football team as they head to Wi$con$in this weekend to test their grit at “Camp Randall $tadium”. That’s why we are going to take these lucky foods and put a spin on them to make them more Crosschips approved.

Questions from CrosschipsBT:

“Why come Michigan need luck?” Well, because they are one win away from being bowl eligible and have lost 5 of their last 6 games. Wi$con$in is also ranked 20th and rarely loses games at home. Since 2005 Wi$con$in is 29-3 at Camp Randall. This place can get loud and their fans are quite peculiar. Here are a couple of their regular activates that could be a part of their home field success:

“Is it because of their “Jump Around” tradition?:

“where fans dance to the House of Pain song of the same name. This takes place between the third and fourth quarters.” - wiki

Or maybe it’s because of their kind fanbase?:

“Badger fans perform a call-and-response chant before kickoffs; however, theirs is much more vulgar than many others. Normally, the east half of the stadium taunts the west side by yelling "Eat shit!" while the west side replies with "Fuck you!" - wiki

I’m sure Michigan felt rattled at M$U, Iowa and maybe a little at Illinois, but they should be ready for what the Cheese heads bring to the table. Michigan needs this win badly and must not be rattled by lame songs and chants. If they can’t get it here, they have to get it done at home against Ohio State who happens to be in the running for the Big Ten Championship (OMG NO WAY).

“Can MICH do win game this weekend?” Of course, BT. Iowa beat them at home and we’ve all seen that Iowa isn’t the greatest team every made. In the last few years, Wi$con$in has had close home games with weak teams which proves anyone has a shot.

  • Northern Illinois 28-20, 2009
  • Cal Poly 36-35 OT, 2008
  • The Citadel 45-31. 2006 (I know 14 isn’t soooo close, but it’s Citadel.)

“Prediction of score also FINAL OUTCOME?”

Now Michigan’s odds are not great. They are a 9 point dog and their main RB is injured AGAIN (Minor). But I think if the defense steps up like it has been SUPPOSED to and the offense keeps the momentum going from the Purdue game (36pts), all 80,321 red and white pajama wearing cheese heads will see their team lose another one at home. I’m gonna go ahead and say with our help by eating the below lucky food items, MICH WILL BE DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIN’ IT!!!!!!!!!! MICH 27 – Wiscy 24

(Eat/drink the CROSSCHIPS ones)

(1)  Blackeyed Peas:  A tradition in the American South, where many people believe "Eat poor on New Year's; eat fat the rest of the year." Normally served cooked with ham hocks, seasonings, onion and garlic in a dish called "Hoppin John."

CROSSCHIPS: Black Tacos: First of all, I hate the Blackeyed Peas, they have ruined sporting events since the Pistons 2004 title run. First with “Let’s get it started (in here)” and now “I’ve got a feeling (woo hoo)” Just cut it out FERGIE!

(2)  Cabbage:  the leaves represent paper currency and it features the color of money. Anyone for a whopping big bowl of cole slaw?

CROSSCHIPS: CHIPS: Potato chips are delicious, you call them chips, you use chips at a casino to gamble, chips at a casino are worth cash, BOOM CURRENCY.

(3)  Grapes:  Many Cubans believe that eating a dozen grapes as the clock strikes midnight and the New Year is ushered in brings prosperity in the months ahead.

CROSSCHIPS: BOOZE: Grapes are made into Wine, wine is booze, therefore drink any booze you like.

(4)  Lentils: Take a tip from the Italians and serve pork sausage cooked over a bed of lentils in a dish called "Cotechino" - the fat from the pork represents richness yet to come and the beans symbolize the plenty ahead.

CROSSCHIPS: PORK & BEANS: That’s what I read in what it says above. Pork = richness, beans equal constant flow of cash money. Doooooooin’ it!

(5)  Noodles:  The longer the better, according to many Buddhists, as long noodles represent longevity and overall prosperity.

CROSSCHIPS: SPAGHETTI: First of all. “The longer the better” ^^^ That’s what she said! Heyyyyooo! But yes, eat some spaghetti for MICH!

(6) Apple rings: actually, any foods in the shape of a ring (bell pepper rings, onion rings) are considered good luck because they symbolize coming full circle.

CROSSCHIPS: ONION RINGS / Donuts . Simple enough.

(7)  Greens:  any vegetable in the "greens" category including kale and spinach are considered lucky foods because both their color and leaf shape represents paper currency.

CROSSCHIPS: Mountain Dew: I couldn’t think of any Crosschips approved food that is green. If you have any ideas, please email me! But this can be mixed with vodka, which is encouraged.

Do it up CROSSCHIPPERS!  ENJOY AND GO BLUE!!!!!!!!

MIIIIIIIIIIIICH vs. Penn State!

image

Location: MICH stadium
Time: 3:30 PM
Line: Penn St. -4.5  (O/U 48)
Beers O/U: 12.5
CAW? CAW!

So this Saturday, MICH plays Penn State.  A game that we have been looking forward to since back to back losses to Big Ten opponents, M$U and Iow-CAW! Penn State is favored by 4.5 and my beer consumption over/under is 12.5 which is normal for a 3 :30 kick.

The weather tomorrow is supposed to be cold and rainy, so this may be punt fest 2009 but hopefully not.  Penn State has been over-rated since Joe-Pa started wearing adult diapers and they have played some seriously weak competition.  Their only loss came at home by 10 points to IOWA who MICH almost beat IN Iowa.

MIIIIIICH on the other hand has their starting center (Molk, who is a sophomore, right?) back as well as a healthy Tate Jonathan Forcier, Brandon Jonathan Minor and Carlos Jonathan Brown.  Look for MICH to focus on the running game and put the Knitting LOLions away in a tight grudge match.

MIIIIIIIIIICH!!!!

MICH is now 4 – 2 after losing at M$U and Iowa the past 2 weekends and the season is halfway over.  Both games were thrilling, down to the wire, grit packed performances where they ended up losing by a combined 8 points (one game in OT).  Winning both games would have been great, splitting the two would have been fantastic, but to bring both games down to the wire is worth more than 2 dull wins or losses under a tremendous coach by the name of Lloyd Jonathan Carr.

Finishing with a 8-4 record is very possible and it would be a great turn around for this program.  Any more than 7 wins would be far beyond my expectations for this year.  This team is competitive, passionate and a fun as hell to watch and I’m excited to see them dominate the next six Saturdays.

This team get’s me so pumped up in fact that I am beginning to see Crosschips during the games!  check it out:

Crucial Sports Weekend

Two of Crosschips favorite sporting squadrons have some crucial games ahead of them this weekend.  The Detroit Tigers are a couple of wins away from getting back to the playoffs and the Michigan Wolverines are in East Lansing to take on their rival, M$U.  If the Tigers get the job done as well as MICH, I will need to change my jorts but let’s not get hasty.

Michigan is 4-0 right now, something that no rational MICH fan really expected. M$U was predicted to finish in the top 3 of the Big Ten this year and are currently 1-3. The fact that the tables have turned back to what we are all used to so quickly is a “W” in itself. A Michigan win this weekend would be icing on the cake and a loss, as much as it would suck, isn’t that big of a deal. It’s Michigan’s 1st road game, their starting QB is probably still injured and the Defense is very unstable.

Is a win possible for MICH? Hell yeah it is. MICH has won 30 of the last 40 games against M$U and haven’t lost 2 straight since 1967. MICH is only a 3.5 point dog in this and there is a 60% chance of rain tomorrow afternoon. Why is rain good? Because M$U is a passing team, averaging 320 ypg. If it’s raining, they are limited in their pass attack and will have to rely on their rushing game which averages only 117 ypg. If it does rain, MICH averages 243 ypg on the ground already so expect that to give them a strong advantage.

Now, because both teams have terrible defense, giving up over 350 yards of offense each, you would expect this to be a barn burner, but the weather will keep the score Under the predicted 56 point total. The fact that Michigan is a far more explosive running team will give them the edge.

MICH 35 – M$U 17

BET$ FOR THE WEEKEND:

Central MICH -8 @ Buffalo: CHIPS -8

MICH +3.5 @ M$U: MICH +3.5

Nortwestern @ Purdue: OVER 57

Penn State -7 @ Illinois: Penn State -7

Wyoming @ FL Atl -3.5: FL Atlantic -3.5

The Detroit Tigers are 2 wins up on the Minnesota Twins.  A Tigers win and a twins lost tonight would seal the deal for them to play the YANKS in the 1st round of the ALDS.  LET’S GET IT DONE TIGERS!!!!!!  DOOOOOOOIN’ IT!!!

CROSSCHIPS FOR THE DAY: Eat 1 food item for every score that Any Team puts up that you happen to be watching this Saturday.  1 TD = 1 burger, 1 field goal = a bowl of cereal.  A GRAND SLAM by Miggy = 4 Beers (4 runs) etc…

Let the Big Ten (11) begin

MICH is hosting the Indiana Hoosiers this weekend for the start of their B10 conference matchups.  What a better way to celebrate by having 11 tailgating essentials related to all 11 Big Ten teams!

100_0167

Illinois: ICE --- The fighting Illini bring literally nothing to the conference this year.  I’m not even sure they won a game yet.  For that, they can be ICE.  It keeps your beverage cold and when you run out of napkins, you clean the shit off your hands with it.

Indiana: Cheese Puffs: --- Sure their 3-0 rolling into A2 this weekend, but when the pressure is on, they crack and crumble into a worthless powder.  Regardless of that, we still enjoy them even though they give you orange finger tips.  How does that relate?  Don’t ask.

Iowa: CORN: --- Grilled corn is always good.  It’s cheap and easy to execute.  Iowa, as we all know, is in the middle of a giant corn field.  They sell Cola and Corn Cob Combos at Kinnick Stadium, so why not load up on their cheap produce and butter it up for some Crosschips.

Michigan: The Grill: --- It may have been low on propane last year, but in 2009 we loaded up at the Home Depot down south.  It takes any Crosschips product or opponent and cooks the shit out of them with burning speed.  The #1 essential item to a quality Crosschips tailgate.

Michigan State: CHIPS: --- Everyone likes chips and we all sure as hell like that M$U lost to the CHIPS (Central MICH) this year.  We all stand around the tailgate, saying CHIPS and LOL’ing at their expense.  Oh poor Sparty. HA.

Minnesota: Donuts: --- Our fat gophers to the north have long winters and to keep warm they pack on the pounds with these delectable breakfast treats.  Let’s join them as we crack a beer at 7am.

Northwestern: Designated Driver: --- These Wildcats are smart.  So smart in fact that it’s a good idea to befriend a few to tailgate with.  They will not drink and then drive you home in your drunken state.  The key is to pound a few earlier so they are obligated to be the DD.  Love those smart kids.

Ohio State: BEER: --- As much as we hate these $UCKEYE$, they sure as hell can drink beer.  For the past few years, they have been the guy no body can out-drink in the conference.  Beer is obviously key to the tailgate and you better bring a lot of them to drown out your sorrows of the always possible loss to some cupcake of a program.

Penn State: Burgers & Dogs: --- Always good, but sometimes one may be a little under or over cooked, leaving a bad taste in your mouth.  It’s always best when you cook them at home, because MICH has won the last 5 games at home since 1997.

Purdue: Whisky: --- Nothing starts off a tailgate like a good Boilermaker and Purdue has been known to “BOILER UP!” as the Boilermakers.  When Purdue comes to town, it’s always a good time.  MICH hasn’t lost to Purdon’t at home since 1965.

Wisconsin: Cheese & Crackers: ---  We all know the state of Wisconsin is making cheese hand over fist, no idea what that means, but they have shit tons of cheese up there.  Cheese may be “elegant” or “fancy” as some MICH tailgating jokes go, but you can’t go wrong with this finger food.  Just don’t eat it while you drink a glass of White Zin, we arn’t at a Stanford tailgate Crosschippers.

So enjoy your Saturday Crosschippers!!!!!!!!!!  LET’S GO BLUE!!!

don’t forget to post-tailgate!!!!

CROSSCHIPS TAILGATE

Wow, 2nd picture on google images under "Tailgate".

Anyway, it's football season again and I couldn't be more excited to get over to Ann Arbor this Saturday and watch some MIIIIICH football!

Western Michigan +13 (56) @ MICHIGAN

This weekend Michigan is bringing in the MAC powerhouse?, Western Michigan for a 3:30 kick off. The Western Michigan Broncos are a +13 point dog in this game and are lead behind the likes of the possible future MAC QB of the year, Timothy Jonathan Hiller. This could spell trouble for the Michigan secondary who is now coached by the most gorgeous hair in College football, Gerg Robinson. I swear I've never seen this guy wear a hat and he damn well better not. Ever.

On the flip side, MICH finally has some compitant QB's, yes, QB's. They are starting only 3 on Saturday. But the young ginger Tate Jonathan Forcier has been given the nod to take the first snap. This kid, unlike Nicholas Jonathan Sheridan has some quickness and knows how to throw the ball TO A RECIEVER. The 3rd QB, who got to MICH this summer is the fastest kid that's ever lived. Denard "Nard Dogg" Jonathan Robinson. This kid can run like the wind with his shoes untied. E-FACT. He also has a decent passing ability, probably better than Sheridan but I'm sure most people are. MICH also has some dominating veteran running backs, Carlos Brown will probably start over Brandon Minor who has a boo boo on his ankle or something. But these two are fast and powerful and will most likely be getting the majority of the workload due to 2 freshman QB's and Nick Sheridan.

I can see this one going well in Michigan's favor. It's the first game of the year, WMU will be feeling the intimidation of the Big House and Michigan has much more talent overall. I can see MICH winning, but not covering the spread as their defense will be tested all day. BOOM MICH'D: 35 - 24

Now, the matter at hand, Crosschips Tailgating: We all tailgate like true Amuricans! Tons of beer, BBQ and plenty of CHIPS! and DIP!

There are some given rules when it comes to Crosschips tailgating.
1. Always drink 10% of your weight in units of beers. 150 lbs, drink 15 and so forth.
2. 1 full plate full of BBQ good, NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Eat 1 full plate for ever hour you are there before kickoff.
3. Every 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, etc.. beer must either be shotgunned or bonged. No QUESTION.
4. Park near a bathroom.

Now, this weekend we will be having the following at our tailgate (4-8 people):
-200 beers minimum
-75 hot dogs
-"The Bacon Explosion"
-8 bags of CHIPS
-8 things of DIP
-Hand Sanitizer (crucial for portajonathans)
-Toilet Paper

GO MICH!!!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS COMING BACK

Look out Crosschippers, college football is returning this week and we couldn't be more excited! Tailgating has always been a beloved pastime of our Crosschips brigade because it tests you abilities in an outside element, which is then followed up by a cool down period spent at a college football game.

Crosschips tailgating includes the eating of several finger foods and snacks with the enjoyment of multiple libations. 75% of the time the tailgate includes some sort of grilling; burgers, hotdogs, chicken, whole pig roasts and even giant vats of chili.
A crucial factor to a Crosschips tailgate is to bring a minimum of 5 servings of food per person and 12-15 servings in drinks.

The founder/CEO of Crosschips happens to do his tailgating at Michigan games and will be presenting to you photos, video and Crosschips game plans based around the University of MICH! Football games.

Only a few more days people!!!!!!!!!!
